The trip
We will be staying at emerald lake lodge prior to the wedding from the 1st to the 3rd April 2025, and would like to invite our lovely families to join us! If you would like to stay here, please let us know in advance as we can get a discount by booking together.
After the main event, we will be staying in Banff. As we won't be having stag/hen dos we are treating the 2 days afterwards as our equivalent! Our current plan is to spend the day after the wedding (the 6th) as a skiing day to explore the slopes friendly for those with limited experience. The second day there's two options. Option one, return to the slopes, brave skiers can tackle whichever slopes they feel. All the skiing will take place at mount norquay, so feel free to have a nosy if that's the option you fancy. Equipment hire is available from in town. All of this is completely optional by the way, just what we are doing and is open to everyone!
Alternatively, there is option 2 of going tubing in the morning (think sledding but in a big inflatable tube), followed by a spa afternoon at meadow spa and pools. Please note all activities not on the wedding day unfortunately cannot be funded by us, but please come as suits you!
The big day
More specifics are to be confirmed, however the loose plan currently is a roughly midday wedding by the lake on the 5th April 2025. This will be a standing ceremony, as we will not be allowed to set up anything substantial. If you are concerned about this period of standing, the rules allow shooting sticks for perching. There may also be an opportunity to skate on the frozen lake for those brave enough!
After the ceremony, we will be arranging transport to Calgary and back, where we have a private box for a Calgary Flames Vs Vegas Golden Knights NHL game. We intend to get here early to allow time for drinks, snacks and speeches! Catering will be provided at the rink. If you are staying in Banff, we will then travel back together afterwards to return to our accomodation.
Wedding Itinerary
12.30pm - Meet at Lake Minnewanka, we will send you the exact location of the ceremony the day before. We suggest you plan to arrive by car due to lack of public transport. Most likely we will need to park here.
1pm - Ceremony begins by the lake
1.30pm - Group & family photos
3pm - Make your own way back to Banff
4.30pm - Coach leaves from Moose Hotel and Suites Banff to go to Calgary
6.30pm - Private suite at Scotiabank Saddledome is available
6.45pm - Speeches, drinks and dinner
8pm - Faceoff!
~10.30pm - Whenever the game finishes, coach returns to Moose Hotel and Suites
1am latest - Drop off at Moose Hotel and Suites
